2. MEDIA REPORT - FIRST NATIONAL LYME CONVENTION
At Gettysburg, we discussed 2 different media initiatives;

1. Reactive: Sending rebuttal to, or agreement for, an article, news show, etc.

2. Proactive: Sending out press releases, writing articles, etc.

Initiatives will take place on both a national and a local level. For any intitiative to be successful, we neeed the machinery in place.

State representatives (SR)from each state are the starting point. We will target the most endemic states first, but if a volunteer pops up from a less endemic state, naturally, we'll bring him on board.
State Representative's job:

1. SR works under the guidance of the Media for Lyme Committee (MLC) to have their state respond to an initiative, which could be a letter writing or call-in campaign, media event, convention, meeting or other.

2. SR recruits delegates from Lyme patients, advocates, or through local press, flyers in libraries (stores...), doctors' patient lists, statewide support groups, etc.

3. Whe MLC calls for an initiative, Sr activates delegates via e-Mail or phone.

4. Then SR monitors its statewide response by receiving copies of letters and/or reports from delegates. When delegates do not report back, SR can patiently remind them. (Most of us do have Lyme.)

5. Then SR sends a comprehensive report to MLC.

6. As the number of delegates per state increases, each state can be divided into regions. The SR can select regional leaders, who will then work with the delegates of each region.

7. Looking to the future, SRs could also run local media events, either in conjunction with, or separate from the MLC.

8. Each SR must be courteous at all times and must refer to the MLC at the slightest hint of a problem.
